To the Editor:

To the Editor: In your last issue you mentioned the name and address of one of the many Earth Day organizations (Earth Day 1990) that are gearing up for Earth Day's 20 year anniversary next April 22, 1990. Since we are participating in that effort along with two other national efforts, we thought your readers should make note of them as well. They are: Earth Day 20, headed up by Ed Furia, reachable at (206) 455-5294 or Evergreen Point Road, Box 288, Medina, Washington 98039. The other is the Global Greenhouse Network led by Jeremy Rifkin, reachable at (202) 4662823 or c/o The Foundation on Economic Trends, 1130 Seventeenth Street, N.W. Washington, D.C.20036. These two Earth Day efforts are also grass roots based campaigns to expand and extend environmental consciousness and activism into the 21st century.

This year, on Earth Day, several groups, including U.S.PIRG, the Global Greenhouse Network, Greenpeace, the National Toxics Campaign and Clean Water Action, are organizing actions to confront the major manufacturers and users of ozone depleting chemicals. On Saturday, April 22, there will be demonstrations in New York City, Kansas City, KS, Houston and Silicon Valley, calling upon companies such as Dupont, GM, Occidental and IBM to phase out all manufacture and use of chemicals such as CFCs and carbon tetrachloride within one year.
